The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has reached significant academic heights, placing first in the UAE, third in the GCC, and 55th in Asia according to the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026.
This latest ranking underscores UAEU's pivotal role as a leading educational institution dedicated to quality higher education, research, and innovation.
Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, the Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of UAEU, remarked that this achievement is a testament to the institution’s extensive growth since becoming the UAE's first comprehensive national university. He stressed the university’s commitment to building human capital and fostering knowledge.
He further noted that UAEU's distinction as the top university in the UAE and its advancement within Asia's elite academic institutions highlight its dedication to educational excellence, research, and innovation. This success also aligns with the UAE leadership’s vision to invest in knowledge and its people.
As the university celebrates its Golden Jubilee, it reflects on its successes while striving for an even more significant impact in the future. UAEU aims to be at the forefront of knowledge and contribute significantly to sustainable development both locally and globally.
Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, indicated that this achievement is the result of ongoing efforts to enhance academic and research practices. He emphasized focuses on education quality, adherence to international standards, and reinforcing its status as a globally recognized research institution.
He also mentioned that UAEU is pivotal in preparing future-ready graduates who will support the UAE’s knowledge-oriented economy and sustainable growth.
The 2026 THE Asia University Rankings utilize 18 performance metrics categorized into five main areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry income.
This accomplishment further solidifies UAEU's commitment to exceptional education, innovation, and community involvement, reinforcing its significant contribution toward the UAE’s ambition to emerge as a global hub for education, research, and sustainable development.
