UAE Hosts GCC Education Delegation to Foster Knowledge Exchange

Post by : Mara Rahim

The UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has recently hosted a delegation from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. This visit is a follow-up to the 24th Meeting of GCC Higher Education Ministers, which took place last year in Doha, Qatar. The purpose is to promote regular interactions among member nations to exchange experiences, adopt best practices, and enhance higher education systems and international rankings.

The delegation consisted of officials from universities, planning and development authorities, and academic accreditation bodies in the GCC. They reviewed several strategic initiatives undertaken by the UAE, emphasizing advancements in the higher education sector. Notable projects included the National Qualifications Recognition System, aimed at streamlining processes, improving data quality, and facilitating digital integration among institutions.

MoHESR highlighted its measures to combat academic fraud through digital monitoring and proactive surveillance, ensuring the protection of students and maintaining quality education. The discussions also focused on updates regarding global university rankings and the UAE's outcome-based evaluation system, which aligns higher education achievements with labor market demands, particularly in research and skills development.

The agenda included visits to Khalifa University and Mohamed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), allowing the delegation to experience the UAE's innovative educational practices and advanced scientific research firsthand. This initiative reflects the GCC countries' dedication to fostering stronger collaboration, knowledge sharing, and equipping future leaders for regional advancement.
