UAE Denounces Iranian Drone and Missile Offensive Against Bahrain and Kuwait

Post by : Raina Nasser

The United Arab Emirates has vehemently denounced the drone and missile offensive by Iran, aimed at Bahrain and Kuwait. This action has been labelled a grave violation of the sovereignty of both nations and poses a significant threat to the overarching security in the region.

In an official communiqué, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized these assaults as intolerable while highlighting the critical importance of maintaining the sovereignty, security, and stability across all nations. The ministry reiterated the UAE’s unwavering solidarity with both Bahrain and Kuwait, emphasizing support for all efforts to secure their safety and national interests.

This condemnation follows reports from Bahrain and Kuwait regarding the interception of numerous missiles and drones that originated from Iran on Saturday. Authorities in Kuwait disclosed that their defense systems successfully neutralized seven missiles, while Bahrain confirmed the interception of three missiles and multiple drones before they could achieve their targets.

These incidents exacerbate existing tensions in the region, particularly after recent U.S. strikes on Iranian surveillance positions located on Goruk and Qeshm Islands, near the strategic Strait of Hormuz. U.S. officials indicated that these military actions were prompted by the identification of Iranian drones perceived as threats to maritime traffic in the region.

In retaliation, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for targeting U.S. military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain, asserting it was a response to American strikes. They also took credit for attacks on several tankers attempting to navigate through the Strait of Hormuz.

The UAE has promoted restraint and stability during these tumultuous times, emphasizing that ensuring regional security remains a top priority. Officials are calling for concerted efforts aimed at fostering peace and preventing further escalation in the Gulf area.

The UAE’s swift denunciation of Iranian actions underscores heightened anxieties regarding regional volatility and highlights the crucial need for the protection of international security, trade routes, and the sovereignty of Gulf states.
