Weather Advisory: Rain and Turbulent Conditions Expected Across the UAE

Post by : Mara Rahim

The UAE brace for a spell of volatile weather, with anticipated rainfall, strong winds, and tumultuous sea conditions affecting various regions through the weekend, as stated by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). The forecast indicates periods of partial to complete cloud cover, with rain likely over coastal, island, northern, and eastern territories.

Businesses operating in logistics, construction, maritime, and outdoor sectors are urged to take precautionary measures due to diminished visibility and hazardous sea conditions. Today, moderate to brisk winds are expected, stirring dust and sand, while sea states will range from moderate to rough across the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.

On Thursday, December 18, conditions are expected to deteriorate with sporadic rainfall, potential thunderstorms, lightning, and the possibility of hail in certain regions. Winds may shift from southeasterly to northwesterly, reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h, resulting in rough to very rough seas in the Arabian Gulf.

Friday, December 19, will see the continuation of these unstable conditions, with cooler temperatures, sporadic rain, thunderstorms, and hail. Winds may reach up to 65 km/h, leading to rugged seas in the Arabian Gulf, which may impact marine transport and offshore activities.

By Saturday, December 20, a slight reprieve is anticipated, though partly cloudy skies and convective clouds may still produce rain in northern and eastern areas. Winds will remain moderate to brisk, with the Arabian Gulf showcasing rough seas.

Forecasts for Sunday, December 21, indicate further improvement, featuring partly cloudy skies, light rain over coastal areas, islands, and increased humidity overnight in some internal western locales. Sea conditions are expected to become milder, enabling safer marine endeavors.
