The United Arab Emirates has been designated the guest country of honour at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2025 in Shanghai, taking place from November 5 to 10. The UAE delegation will be headed by His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, acting on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
This high-profile participation reflects an expanding strategic partnership between the UAE and China and supports Abu Dhabi’s agenda to accelerate economic diversification and build a knowledge-based economy. The CIIE will serve as a targeted forum to deepen bilateral trade, attract investment and advance technological collaboration.
Officials say the UAE delegation will concentrate on priority sectors such as advanced technology, clean energy, food security and logistics, seeking innovative solutions and concrete investment opportunities. The presence underscores the UAE’s drive for sustainable development and its intent to foster enduring international business relationships.
The expo is expected to draw government representatives, corporate leaders and investors worldwide, reinforcing the UAE’s status as a regional trade and innovation hub. Acting as guest country of honour is set to broaden UAE-China cooperation and catalyse strategic, long-term projects across multiple industries.
