First UAE-Russia Business Forum Kicks Off in Dubai to Enhance Economic Ties

Post by : Mara Rahim

Today, Dubai officially launched the inaugural UAE–Russia Business Forum, a significant step towards enhancing commercial ties between the nations. This forum is orchestrated by the Russia–UAE Business Council in collaboration with the Roscongress Foundation, and receives backing from Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and Marathon Investment Group. Designed as a recurring annual event, it aims to unite leading companies, investment bodies, ministries, and tech startups from both countries. The forum coincides with the 12th session of the Intergovernmental Russia–UAE Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.

In recent times, the economic exchange between the UAE and Russia has markedly increased, leading to collaborative ventures across various sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, transportation, agriculture, digital innovation, healthcare, and investment growth. Both nations aim to expand their partnerships beyond traditional domains into modern industries that necessitate innovative cooperation strategies. This forum intends to bolster these initiatives by unveiling new avenues for sustainable development.

A focal point of the forum will be the primary plenary session, entitled “Architecture of Long-Term Growth: New Opportunities for Both Countries.” During this session, Alexander Vinokurov, Chairman of the Russia–UAE Business Council, will outline the Council’s strategic roadmap for enhancing economic collaboration. Key participants include UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov, alongside leaders from significant companies such as DP World, VTB Bank, and Gazprom-Media. Their discussions will center on fostering deeper cooperation and unlocking the economic capabilities of both nations.

The agenda of the forum includes various panel discussions, commencing with a session on innovation titled “Russia–UAE Innovation Track: A New Era of Technological Partnership.” This session brings together specialists from the Dubai Future Foundation, VisionLabs, Promobot, Invest in Sharjah, and others. A significant announcement during this session will be the launch of the initial accelerator program aimed at aiding Russian tech entities and startups in establishing a robust technology ecosystem within the UAE.

Furthermore, a vital session will address enhancing investment collaboration. The Strategic Co-Investment Dialogue, facilitated by Investment Majlis, will introduce innovative project support mechanisms and outline plans for a dedicated Russia–UAE investment platform. The dialogues will aim to link strategic investors and specialized funds from both nations, promoting lasting business alliances.

The business agenda will wrap up with a discussion titled “Russia and the UAE: Shaping the Ecosystem of Trade and Logistics of the Future.” Specialists from Emirates Airlines, DP World, RAKEZ, KEZAD, FESCO, and other pivotal organizations will scrutinize strategies to enhance export routes, diversify trading paths, and develop sustainable multimodal logistics solutions. This session aims to facilitate smoother trade logistics and reinforce the economic connection between the UAE and Russia.

The forum underscores both nations' strong dedication to deepening cooperation in commerce, investment, innovation, and logistics, reflecting a mutual vision for long-term strategic growth rooted in robust business partnerships.
