The UAE Cyber Security Council, in collaboration with QuantumGate, has introduced a Crypto Discovery Tool (CDT), a state-of-the-art solution developed in Abu Dhabi aimed at fortifying the nation’s quantum-safe cybersecurity landscape.
This tool, guided by the UAE National Cryptography Center, is a pivotal component of the nation’s strategic cybersecurity roadmap. It seeks to assist organizations in preparing against prospective quantum computing vulnerabilities by enhancing transparency and authority over cryptographic mechanisms.
CDT functions by automatically identifying and cataloging cryptographic assets within digital spheres. This creates a comprehensive inventory of the encryption systems employed by organizations, facilitating the identification of potential risks and weaknesses in current security configurations. As a result, firms can manage cryptographic threats more efficiently and strategize a systematic transition towards quantum-resistant encryption.
Officials emphasized the significance of this tool for critical national infrastructure, where advanced and future-proof security measures are imperative.
Dr. Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti, the UAE Government's Cyber Security Head, noted that this cooperative effort represents a significant advancement in enhancing the UAE’s cybersecurity framework. He stressed the necessity of having national tools to discover and oversee cryptography across various industries to ensure a secure migration to post-quantum cryptography.
Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of QuantumGate, stated that the tool allows organizations to gain full insight into their cryptographic vulnerabilities, enabling preemptive action and a confident transition before quantum risks materialize.
Additionally, CDT features ongoing monitoring capabilities, facilitating real-time oversight of cryptographic assets. This guarantees that organizations remain compliant, prepared for audits, and secure as standards evolve. The compliance framework is adaptable and can be refreshed to align with new directives from the UAE Cyber Security Council.
Embedded within the UAE National Post-Quantum Migration Programme, CDT is designed to assist both public and private entities in orchestrating a seamless transition to quantum-resistant encryption standards.
The system will also integrate with the broader UAE cybersecurity framework via the National Cybersecurity Index platform. It will transmit data to a national Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Index, providing authorities with a cohesive perspective on the country's cryptographic security status.
This integration aims to enhance national monitoring, improve preparedness tracking, and advocate better decision-making processes.
The rollout of CDT signifies a new chapter of collaboration between the UAE Cyber Security Council and QuantumGate, solidifying the country’s leadership in pioneering quantum-safe cybersecurity solutions.
