Deepening Ties: UAE and Bahrain Strengthen Their Partnership

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The UAE and Bahrain are exemplifying the transformative power of regional partnerships, turning shared history and deep-seated brotherhood into tangible advances. Their alliance stands out as one of the Gulf's most consistent and impactful.

Central to the UAE–Bahrain relationship are common cultural values and aligned developmental objectives. This foundation has enabled both nations to tackle regional and global challenges together, promoting peace, stability, and lasting growth for their citizens.

With the UAE celebrating its 54th Eid Al Etihad in tandem with Bahrain's National Day, the strength of their union is particularly evident. Decades of personal connections between peoples have fostered robust diplomatic ties built on mutual trust and a unified vision.

A key aspect of their collaboration is economic engagement. The UAE ranks as one of Bahrain's top three foreign investors, with total direct investments projected to reach AED16.5 billion by 2024—accounting for about 10% of Bahrain's foreign investment landscape. Trade between the two has also flourished, with non-oil trade skyrocketing by 182% from 2010 to 2023, ascending from AED9.1 billion to over AED25.7 billion, totaling AED231.6 billion from 2010 to 2022.

These investment dynamics reflect robust confidence on both sides. Currently, over 1,500 Emirati investors are active within Bahrain, while more than 7,000 Emiratis are involved in Bahraini stock markets. Bahraini investments in the UAE are equally impressive, amounting to AED5.1 billion by the end of December 2023.

The vibrancy of this partnership is also visible through the on-ground projects led by Emirati companies across various sectors in Bahrain, including energy, infrastructure, and healthcare. Ongoing exchanges of expertise further enhance competitiveness and prepare the workforce for industries of the future.

Ultimately, the collaboration between the UAE and Bahrain demonstrates how mutual values, coordinated efforts, and practical partnerships can yield enduring benefits, fostering regional cohesion and advancing shared prosperity.
