A delegation from Turkmenistan's Ministry of Education is currently attending the Education World Forum 2026 in London, scheduled from May 17 to May 21. The group is led by Deputy Minister Azat Atayev.
The Education World Forum is recognized as a prominent international event emphasizing educational policy, digital transformation, and the development of human resources. This year's gathering includes ministers, policymakers, and educational experts focused on shaping the future of education worldwide.
During its sessions at the Park Plaza London Westminster Bridge Hotel, the Turkmen delegation highlighted significant reforms in its education system, emphasizing initiatives aimed at integrating climate resilience and environmental education into national curricula.
At the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, the delegates participated in in-depth discussions covering topics such as digital transformation, teacher training, and sustainable learning systems. They also shared progress made on university reforms and scientific advancement.
Representatives provided insights into enhancements in higher education quality, including the implementation of a KPI management system encompassing over 80 indicators. They reported rising research output, improved citation metrics, and the establishment of commercialization centers for scientific initiatives.
The delegation unveiled the Strategy for the Development of Higher Education in Turkmenistan for the years 2026 to 2052, alongside an Atlas of Future Professions designed to equip students for the demands of the future job market and digital economy.
Several key bilateral discussions took place during the forum, including a meeting with Classera, where they explored AI-driven educational tools, analytics, and personalized learning strategies. Potential pilot projects related to digital education platforms were a focus of these talks.
Engagements with ClassLink centered on enhancing digital infrastructure and integrating educational data for school management systems. The Turkmen delegation also met with Times Higher Education to discuss strategies for improving international rankings and the visibility of Turkmen universities.
Further discussions with Pearson focused on international certification systems, while educational testing standards were reviewed with the Educational Testing Service. Meetings with the British Council addressed cooperative projects targeting English language teaching and teacher training initiatives.
Deputy Minister Azat Atayev also had a dialogue with UK Secretary of State for Education Bridget Phillipson to explore enhancing educational collaborations between Turkmenistan and the UK moving forward.
Turkmen officials reiterated that their involvement in the Education World Forum 2026 is a significant step towards fostering international ties, advancing digital transformation in education, and bolstering the development of competitive human capital for the future.
