Tulasi, an illustrious figure in Telugu and Tamil films, has announced her retirement from acting through heartfelt posts on Instagram. Her departure marks the culmination of an impressive 58-year journey that started when she was merely three months old.
In her announcement, she shared an image of Sai Baba’s feet along with a touching caption: “Guard and guide me and my son Sai!! oh deva oh Sainadha.” Tulasi also reflected on self-trust with a quote stating, “Trust your intuition. You don’t need to explain or justify your feelings to anyone, just trust your own inner guidance, it knows best.” She later affirmed her retirement with a warm message: “Happy retirement! Here’s to enjoying every minute of your newfound freedom and adventures.” Further elaborating on her choice, she noted, “In continuation of my Shirdi darshan this December 31, I wish myself a happy retirement. I will continue my journey in peace with SAINADHA. Thanking all for helping me learn life SAIRAM.”
Born on June 20, 1967, Tulasi made her mark in Telugu cinema as a child actor when she was just three months, appearing in the film Bharya. She quickly rose to fame with notable roles in classics such as Seetamalakshmi (1978), Sankarabharanam (1979), and Mudda Mandaram (1981).
After tying the knot with Kannada director Sivamani at 28, Tulasi stepped back from films for a while, taking on occasional voice roles, including projects for renowned director Mani Ratnam. Her return to the industry came in 2003 with the Kannada film Excuse Me, where her portrayal as a mother became her defining role. She went on to star in significant films like Mr Perfect, Iddarammayilatho, and Dear Comrade, along with her appearance in the series Oka Chinna Family Story.
