Gurgaon has a new dessert hotspot that has quickly captured the city’s attention: Magnolia Bakery. The famous New York franchise, known for its banana pudding, chocolate cake, caramel pecan cheesecake, and other classic American treats, opened its doors on November 16 in Sector 42. Since then, the bakery has drawn massive crowds, with long queues stretching from morning until closing time. Many dessert lovers are waiting patiently for a taste of its famous offerings, including Alia Bhatt’s favorite, tres leches cake.
However, not everyone wants to spend an hour or more in line just for dessert. Food blogger Suhana Nanda has shared three excellent alternative dessert spots that are conveniently located right across the street from Magnolia Bakery. These options offer unique and creative sweet treats that are worth trying.
1. Hosa Restaurant and Bar
Located in DLF Phase 5, Sector 43, Hosa Restaurant and Bar offers a modern twist on South Indian cuisine, which extends to its desserts as well. Suhana highlights the filter-coffee ice cream served with Marie biscuits and the innovative coconut and curry-leaf ice cream, made with curry-patta oil. Another standout is the chocolate chili cheesecake topped with rich ganache—a must-try for those seeking bold South Indian flavors in dessert form.
2. Oju by Neuma
Just a two-minute drive from Hosa, Oju by Neuma is a fine-dining restaurant inside The Anya Hotel, Sector 43, launched by filmmaker Karan Johar. Oju has become popular for its contemporary Japanese-inspired menu and decadent dessert platters. Suhana recommends the lava cake with a peanut-butter chocolate center, the strawberry-coconut-mango mochi ice cream, and a unique Japanese jelly noodle dessert topped with granola, fruit, ice cream, and syrup. Each dessert is carefully crafted and visually stunning, making it a favorite among food lovers.
3. Japonico
A short two-minute drive from Oju, Japonico in Tower D, Vipul Tech Square, Sector 43, offers a contemporary Japanese bar experience blending Japanese, Chinese, and other Asian flavors. Its dessert offerings are equally impressive. Suhana praises their dessert platter, which features soaked tiramisu, a light Japanese cheesecake with pineapple, silky panna cotta with mango compote, and an assortment of fresh fruits. Each dish is artfully presented and full of flavor, perfect for anyone looking to explore creative Asian desserts.
While Magnolia Bakery continues to attract long lines, these three alternative spots provide unique and equally delightful dessert experiences. Whether you are a fan of South Indian flavors, Japanese-inspired sweets, or a mix of Asian desserts, Gurgaon’s dessert scene has something special for everyone—without the wait.
