The Family Man Season 3 Review: A Mixed Bag of Action and Drama

Post by : Mina Rahman

After a hiatus of four years, Manoj Bajpayee returns in The Family Man with its eagerly awaited third season, which debuts on November 21. This acclaimed spy thriller features Bajpayee as Srikant Tiwari, a middle-class intelligence officer juggling significant national security challenges alongside his tumultuous family life.

Directed by Raj and DK, Season 3 kicks off with Srikant embroiled in an assassination plot that entangles him in a complex geopolitical scenario laden with insurgency and covert operations. The ensemble cast sees Priyamani reprising her role as his wife, Suchitra, joined by Sharib Hashmi, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Ashlesha Thakur, Vedant Sinha, and Dalip Tahil. New faces Jaideep Ahlawat and Nimrat Kaur take on crucial antagonistic roles.

Upon its initial release in 2019, The Family Man revolutionized Indian OTT thrillers with its unique blend of action, comedy, and family dynamics. This latest season leans more intensely into the action genre, a pivot that has sparked a divide among viewers.

Supporters of the new season have hailed it, stating: “Of all three seasons, this one stands out as the most coherent and engaging yet,” remarked one viewer. Fans have also appreciated the returning characters and the fresh additions, highlighting strong performances and intriguing plot twists.

Nevertheless, not all reactions have been positive. Some critiques point to a decline in storytelling quality and reduced emphasis on Srikant’s family interactions. Feedback varied from “The weakest season thus far… at least the cast seems to enjoy it” to “I managed to watch four episodes… this season is quite tedious!” Viewers also expressed disappointment over the absence of the hallmark elements that made previous seasons captivating.

In conclusion, The Family Man Season 3 presents a mixed reception, oscillating between an adrenaline-fueled experience and a somewhat lackluster episode in the series.
