The Ministry of Education in Thailand has unveiled a new digital safety initiative named “Edusafe School,” aimed at enhancing emergency responses and protection within schools nationwide. The announcement took place at a formal signing ceremony in Bangkok on May 15, 2026, led by Education Minister Prasert Chantarawongthong.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with over eighteen partner organizations to bolster cooperation in ensuring school safety and creating innovative, secure environments for students. This agreement signifies the government's commitment to prioritizing student security.
As per the Education Minister, the Edusafe School platform is crafted to deliver quick emergency response via smartphones. In critical situations, users can activate an SOS feature that links to Google Earth, transmitting the precise location to a central command for immediate assistance.
Additionally, the system can capture audio and relay vital information directly to emergency responders who are available round-the-clock. Officials clarified that the platform's purpose extends beyond incident reporting; it aims to offer comprehensive support to students, educators, and their families.
The Edusafe School initiative connects with a Rights Protection Center, providing psychological support, legal advice, and rehabilitation services through an integrated support system. The government anticipates that this project will enhance both the physical and emotional safety within educational settings.
Given the increasing security challenges schools face today—including violence, drug-related issues, accidents, and online threats—the new safety network is designed to bridge gaps in emergency responses and improve collaboration between educational institutions and government bodies.
Major agencies, including the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior, Royal Thai Police, and the Equitable Education Fund, have also joined the collaboration. Their joint efforts will focus on prevention strategies, emergency responses, and programs aimed at protecting students.
Education officials have stressed the importance of long-term sustainability through multisector collaboration rather than solely relying on governmental funds. They hope this technology-driven initiative will foster secure educational environments where students can thrive with assurance and tranquility.
The introduction of Edusafe School represents a significant advancement in Thailand’s mission to modernize educational safety systems through digital solutions. Officials are optimistic that the platform will enhance communication, expedite emergency assistance, and fortify the trust among schools, families, and government agencies.
