A significant scandal has erupted in Thailand as Siranudh Scott, a prominent member of the Singha beer dynasty, publicly accused his elder brother of enduring sexual abuse that reportedly spanned over a decade. The heartfelt claims have catalyzed extensive conversation both locally and on social media.
Known by his nickname “Psi,” Siranudh released a visibly emotional video imploring the public not to label him a “Singha heir.” He expressed that people are unaware of his personal battles and complicated family background. In his account, he mentioned that the alleged abuse initiated when he was just 12 years old and persisted until he was 24.
The 29-year-old environmental activist contended that these incidents occurred within family homes, significantly impacting his mental health and subsequent relationships. He also claimed that multiple family members had knowledge of the abuse but did not act upon it despite his pleas for assistance.
Siranudh asserted that he has evidence to support his allegations, including an audio clip he has shared online. He indicated that other family members had previously heard this recording and were aware of the alleged occurrences. Moreover, he highlighted ongoing disputes regarding inheritance and legal matters tied to property his late grandfather left him, which have further strained family relations.
The scandal has captivated the public’s attention, considering the Bhirombhakdi family is one of Thailand’s richest and most influential, known for establishing the Singha brand. Siranudh conveyed his desire to dissociate from a family that he feels has failed to acknowledge his hardships or provide support during his darkest times.
In response to these serious allegations, Sunit Scott vehemently denied all charges put forth by his younger brother. In a video statement disseminated online, he described the accusations as false and profoundly distressing. While admitting to conflicts in their youth, he firmly rejected any claims of sexual abuse.
Sunit also addressed the audio clip released by Siranudh, stating he was not aware that the conversation was being recorded secretly and emphasized past attempts to mend their family’s tensions, including his previous apologies for past disagreements.
The ongoing situation has ignited fervent discussions in Thailand regarding family dynamics, mental health issues, abuse awareness, and the obstacles faced by those trying to speak out against powerful families. Social media discussions continue to flourish as both brothers defend their narratives publicly.
