Russia launched another large attack on Ukraine’s capital city Kyiv, continuing the intense conflict that has now lasted for more than four years. The latest strikes caused explosions across the city, damaged buildings, and forced people to rush into shelters during the night.
According to Ukrainian officials, Russia used drones and missiles in the attack. Air defense systems were activated across Kyiv as authorities tried to stop incoming strikes. Residents reported hearing loud explosions and sirens for several hours.
Emergency teams were sent to different parts of the city after fires broke out in residential and commercial areas. Officials said several people were injured, while buildings, vehicles, and public infrastructure suffered damage.
The latest attack highlights how the war between Russia and Ukraine continues to create fear and destruction for ordinary civilians. Even after years of fighting, major cities like Kyiv remain under threat from missile and drone attacks.
Ukraine’s government strongly condemned the strikes and accused Russia of targeting civilian areas. Ukrainian leaders have repeatedly called for more international military and financial support to strengthen the country’s defense systems.
Russia, however, continues to defend its military actions and says its operations are linked to national security concerns and strategic objectives in the region. Moscow has often claimed that its attacks focus on military targets, though Ukrainian officials say civilian infrastructure is regularly affected.
The war has already caused thousands of deaths, forced millions of people to leave their homes, and badly damaged Ukraine’s economy and infrastructure. Cities across the country continue to face power shortages, damaged transport systems, and rebuilding challenges.
The conflict has also affected the wider world. Global food prices, fuel markets, and international trade have all faced pressure because both Russia and Ukraine are major players in energy and agricultural exports.
World leaders continue to call for peace, but diplomatic efforts have made little progress. Many countries remain worried that the war could expand further or create long-term instability in Europe and nearby regions.
Military experts say Russia has increased the use of drones and missile strikes in recent months to weaken Ukraine’s defenses and pressure the government. Ukraine, meanwhile, continues to strengthen its air defense systems with support from Western allies.
For people living in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, daily life remains difficult and uncertain. Families continue to spend nights in underground shelters, while schools, hospitals, and businesses operate under the constant threat of attack.
