The Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has teamed up with the Thai SME Federation to enhance the agricultural processing sector, aiming to elevate farmers' incomes and promote Thai agricultural exports globally. This collaborative initiative emphasizes the integration of advanced technology and innovation to modernize the agricultural landscape and foster economic development.
Agriculture Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit noted that high-ranking officials from the Thai SME Federation convened with ministry representatives in Bangkok to outline strategies that assist agricultural entrepreneurs and small business ventures. Key topics included enhancing the value of agricultural products via processing methods, raising product quality standards, and broadening market access both locally and globally.
The ministry has expressed its commitment to prioritize the growth of agricultural SMEs alongside grassroots farming initiatives. Plans are underway to fast-track programs designed to lower production costs and elevate income levels through cutting-edge farming techniques such as precision agriculture, optimized fertilizer usage, and exploring alternative energy solutions.
Officials stated that bolstering agricultural processing sectors will lead to more reliable earnings for farmers and local enterprises, subsequently boosting the international competitiveness of Thai agricultural products. The ministry also emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration among government bodies, the private sector, and SME networks to maximize trade prospects and support sustainable rural economic development.
Dr. Napapong Teerawor, President of the Thai SME Federation, expressed optimism regarding the government's agricultural advancement policies, affirming the federation’s readiness to facilitate implementation efforts. He articulated that modernization in agriculture would not only fortify Thailand’s economy but also yield enduring advantages for both farmers and small enterprises throughout the nation.
The SME Federation’s support for entrepreneurs and farmers will focus on four main areas: technological innovation transfer, product standard enhancement, market channel expansion both offline and online, and improved funding access. Officials are confident that these initiatives will enhance liquidity for businesses, enabling them to compete more effectively on the international stage.
Dr. Napapong further stated that the federation stands ready to assist more entrepreneurs in adopting standardized processing techniques while expanding the reach of Thai agricultural exports worldwide. Additionally, plans are in motion to strengthen the collaboration between farmers and SMEs, which aims to stimulate innovation and sustainable growth in Thailand's grassroots economy.
Government officials remarked that this initiative is in line with Thailand's comprehensive strategy of enhancing agricultural product value, fortifying rural communities, and building a more resilient and competitive economy through technology-led development.
