Priya Kapur Challenges Allegations of Unpaid Fees in Sunjay Kapur Estate Battle

Priya Kapur Challenges Allegations of Unpaid Fees in Sunjay Kapur Estate Battle

Post by : Mina Rahman

Priya Kapur has firmly denied the accusations that Samaira Kapoor’s university tuition fees remain unpaid. This controversy arose amid the ongoing legal proceedings concerning the estate of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, who passed away in London earlier this year.

During a session at the Delhi High Court, Priya's attorney, Sheyl Trehan, introduced receipts validating that Samaira’s university fees had been settled. These documents indicated that ₹95 lakh per semester has been addressed, with the next payment scheduled for December. This evidence directly opposed the earlier assertions made by Karisma Kapoor’s legal representative, who claimed that two months’ worth of payments were overdue for Samaira, currently enrolled in a U.S. institution.

The court briefly examined the issue before the judge issued a strong reminder to both parties to refrain from unnecessary confrontations. Justice Singh emphasized that such minor disputes should not continue to occupy court time.

The tuition dispute is part of a broader conflict surrounding Sunjay Kapur’s estate. His children with Karisma Kapoor — Samaira and Kiaan — allege that their stepmother Priya Sachdev Kapur forged Sunjay’s will to exclude them from inheritance. Priya’s legal team contested this, asserting that it is commonplace for a spouse to inherit a partner’s assets.

Moreover, Samaira and Kiaan have sought an interim injunction to hinder Priya from selling or modifying any of Sunjay’s property while the matter is unresolved. The court is presently evaluating arguments concerning that request as the family dispute continues.
