Sunita Ahuja Reflects on Marriage with Govinda: “Not the Best Husband”

Sunita Ahuja Reflects on Marriage with Govinda: “Not the Best Husband”

Post by : Mina Rahman

Sunita Ahuja, spouse of Bollywood legend Govinda, recently opened up in a revealing interview about the trials of life as the wife of a superstar. Having been married since 1987, she has often shared insights into the complexities of their relationship, frequently capturing public attention with her statements.

Challenges and Realities in Marriage

In this interview, Sunita highlighted the necessity for patience and self-discipline within marriage. “One must maintain composure. Youth often leads to mistakes; I certainly have, as has Govinda... As you age, repeated errors can tarnish your reputation, particularly when you have a lovely family,” she noted, stressing that enduring mistakes in later life can damage one's image.

Life as a Celebrity’s Spouse

Sunita candidly discussed the emotional challenges of being married to a film icon, stating, “Govinda is a hero... He often spends more time with actresses than with me. It takes immense strength to be the wife of a star; one must harden their heart. It took me 38 years to understand this reality.” She pointed out that while Govinda may be a good son and brother, he falls short as a husband, even humorously asserting she would prefer a different partner in her next life.

Whispers of Separation and Reconciliation

Rumors surrounding their marriage have circulated since February, alluding to potential separation and divorce. Reports indicated that Sunita had issued a notice of separation months prior, though steps were not taken afterward. Yet, some accounts suggested the couple had reconciled, with them appearing together during the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, and Sunita affirming that nothing could separate them.

Family Dynamics

Govinda and Sunita Ahuja were wed in March 1987, maintaining privacy until after the arrival of their daughter, Tina, in 1988. They welcomed their son, Yashvardhan, in 1997. Despite various hurdles, their long-standing marriage continues to seize public interest.
