His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, met with His Excellency Lee Jae-myung, President of South Korea, in Abu Dhabi to solidify ties and enhance the Special Strategic Partnership and Comprehensive Economic Partnership between the two nations. The meeting was part of President Lee’s official visit to the UAE, taking place at Qasr Al Watan.
Welcoming the Korean leader, Sheikh Mohamed expressed optimism that this visit would deepen the UAE-Korea relationship and bolster their mutual objectives toward sustainable development and prosperity. The discussions highlighted key sectors for collaboration, such as economy, trade, investment, and renewable energy.
Topics also included opportunities in technology, artificial intelligence, sustainability, education, and culture, with both leaders exploring avenues to align their developmental agendas. Furthermore, regional and international issues were addressed, emphasizing the necessity of fostering peace and stability in the Middle East.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the strategic partnership between the UAE and South Korea, rooted in trust and mutual respect, while reiterating the UAE's commitment to strengthening economic ties. The pending Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), set for signing in 2024, was identified as a pivotal step in enhancing bilateral economic relations, creating new trade and investment opportunities.
Highlighting the UAE's role as a major trade partner, Sheikh Mohamed praised the substantial advancements in bilateral relations in recent years and underlined the importance of cultivating growth-oriented collaborations with nations that share a commitment to sustainable development.
President Lee lauded the robust collaboration between the two nations, expressing potential in fields like technology, energy, and culture. He acknowledged the UAE's welcoming spirit and strong leadership, later signing the VIP guestbook to signify the partnership's importance.
In celebration of the event, Sheikh Mohamed hosted a luncheon for President Lee and his delegation. They also engaged with a group of students, engineers, and nuclear specialists contributing to UAE developmental efforts, alongside an economic delegation from the two countries.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking UAE officials, including Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister; Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; and several senior officials from the Korean delegation.
Both sides reiterated their resolve to further reinforce the UAE-Korea partnership, driven by shared priorities in economic growth, innovation, and cultural exchange. This visit symbolizes the ongoing strategic, economic, and cultural ties between both nations, heralding deeper cooperation in the future.
