Space42 is reinforcing the UAE's stature in the global space technology arena by enhancing local capabilities in satellite production, artificial intelligence, and Earth observation technologies.
In a conversation with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the 'Make it in the Emirates 2026' event, Hasan Al Hosani emphasized that the company is dedicated to transforming the UAE's aspirations in space technology into robust industrial, operational, and sovereign capabilities domestically.
Al Hosani elaborated on Space42's vision to construct a comprehensive space ecosystem capable of designing, assembling, integrating, testing, and operating cutting-edge space technologies within the UAE. By leveraging artificial intelligence, the firm aims to translate satellite-derived data into actionable insights to benefit governments, businesses, and vital sectors.
He underscored the significance of the Foresight constellation project, indicating it embodies Space42's long-term strategy to localize substantial elements of the space technology value chain within the UAE, which includes the assembly, integration, and testing of advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites.
Al Hosani also mentioned the establishment of Space42 Space Systems in Abu Dhabi, recognized as the region's first Earth observation satellite Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) facility.
The successful launch of Foresight-3, Foresight-4, and Foresight-5 represents a pivotal achievement for the UAE's space industry, marking the country’s advance from knowledge transfer to real industrial and technological prowess in integrating and testing the first SAR satellites nationally.
He noted that these initiatives are vital for fostering advanced national expertise in Earth observation technologies and bolstering sovereign capabilities in the space domain.
Regarding localization, Al Hosani asserted that Space42 perceives this as a long-term commitment to establishing a sustainable industrial foundation and production capabilities across the entire value chain.
The enterprise is also focused on enhancing local expertise in satellite design, development, and operations while nurturing Emirati technical talent, alongside fostering partnerships with industries, governmental bodies, and private firms.
Al Hosani further articulated the pivotal role of artificial intelligence in Space42's endeavors, particularly through the GIQ geospatial intelligence platform, which gathers and analyzes geospatial data sourced from satellites, high-altitude platforms, and terrestrial sensors.
These AI-driven solutions are being deployed for applications in disaster management, infrastructure surveillance, urban development, environmental monitoring, and national security.
He concluded by stating that these advanced tools facilitate quicker and more precise decision-making, enhance operational efficiency, and fortify the UAE's role as a regional leader in Earth observation technology advancement and exports.
