Smriti Mandhana Puts Wedding on Hold Amid Father's Health Crisis

Post by : Mara Rahim

Indian women's cricket sensation Smriti Mandhana had to unexpectedly pause her wedding festivities on Sunday following a health scare involving her father, who experienced sudden chest pain resembling heart attack symptoms. The emergency led to immediate panic at the wedding venue, prompting the swift arrival of an ambulance to transport him to a local hospital for urgent care. In light of the situation, all celebratory events were halted, as Smriti prioritized her father’s well-being over the ceremony.

Adding to the stress, just after her father’s crisis, her fiancé, Palash Muchhal, also required hospitalization after feeling unwell. Sources indicate he was suffering from a viral infection and high acidity; however, his condition was manageable. Following treatment, he was discharged and returned to the hotel, which alleviated some worry for both families.

Close Scrutiny of Father's Health

Dr. Naman Shah, the family physician, provided updates on Mr. Srinivas Mandhana's condition. He reported that around 1:30 PM, Mr. Mandhana experienced pain in his chest, indicative of angina. Upon showing signs of distress, his son immediately contacted medical professionals, who reacted swiftly to transport him to the hospital.

Initial evaluations, including ECG tests, revealed increased cardiac enzymes, indicating stress on the heart that necessitated careful monitoring. Additionally, his blood pressure was elevated, requiring medical intervention to stabilize it. Dr. Shah noted that if improvements are not seen soon, an angiography may be needed for further examination.

Doctors are closely watching his condition throughout the day, and should he continue to progress positively, discharge may be possible in the near future. Smriti and her family are in constant contact with healthcare providers, remaining close during this pressing period.

Prior to this abrupt medical incident, a week of joyous celebrations had been planned in Sangli, Smriti’s hometown in Maharashtra. Friends, family, and fans had eagerly anticipated the wedding, with several ceremonies already completed and the main event set for Sunday. However, Mr. Mandhana’s sudden health concerns prompted the family to suspend all remaining arrangements.

The wedding has now been postponed indefinitely, with the new date hinging entirely on her father’s recovery. The families want to ensure he is fully healthy before resuming the celebrations. Smriti has made it clear she will not proceed with the wedding until her father is well enough to participate.

A Testing Time for the Families

This unexpected situation has been immensely taxing on Smriti Mandhana and the families involved. What was meant to be a celebratory week has turned into a period laden with anxiety. Nevertheless, both Smriti and Palash have remained poised, focusing on the well-being of their families. The families express gratitude for Palash’s non-severe condition and his steady recovery.

The cricket community and fans nationwide have been sending wishes for a swift recovery for Smriti’s father, with many applauding her choice to prioritize family at such a crucial moment in her life.

For now, the timing of the wedding celebrations remains uncertain, determined largely by her father’s health progress. Until then, all plans stay on hold.
