New Sexual Assault Allegations Surface Against Smokey Robinson

New Sexual Assault Allegations Surface Against Smokey Robinson

Post by : Mina Rahman

Renowned artist Smokey Robinson is confronting fresh sexual assault allegations from two former staff members, following an existing $50 million lawsuit initiated by four women. The latest claimants, referred to as John Doe 1 and Jane Doe 5, allege that Robinson attempted to coerce them into inappropriate physical contact.

Jane Doe 5 reported enduring persistent harassment during her employment as a housekeeper from 2005 to 2011, claiming Robinson requested her to enter the bathroom while he bathed and assist with scrubbing his back. John Doe 1, who began working on the Robinsons’ vehicles in 2013, recounted an incident where Robinson confronted him while clad only in underwear, engaging in lewd behavior. He described the harassment as leading to significant humiliation, emotional turmoil, and continuous fears for his safety.

Both accusers indicated that they ultimately resigned due to the alleged assaults, citing fears of retaliation, social stigma, and immigration issues as reasons for their initial silence. The new allegations closely align with those in the original lawsuit, sharing similar settings, timelines, and nature of conduct.

Robinson’s legal representative, Christopher Frost, has denied the allegations, labeling the lawsuit as “a systematic and greedy endeavor to extract money from an 85-year-old icon.” A hearing regarding the revised complaint is set for January 6, 2026, meanwhile Robinson is being scrutinized by the Special Victims Bureau for sexual assault.
