The production team of Mirzapur: The Film has successfully concluded its Varanasi shooting schedule and is now transitioning to Jaisalmer for the next leg, expected to continue until mid-December. Actor Shweta Tripathi, portraying Golu Gupta, has shared her heartfelt reflections on rejoining the franchise and stepping back into this beloved role.
Describing her return to the set as an emotional reunion, Shweta expressed how natural it felt to jump back into Golu’s world after nearly ten years. She felt an overwhelming sense of nostalgia during the look tests, realizing the profound bond she has created with her character throughout the years. Simple pleasures, such as savoring Varanasi chaat and revisiting familiar shooting spots, deepened her sense of coming home.
Varanasi holds personal significance for Shweta, as it is where her breakthrough film, Masaan (2015), was shot, marking an important milestone in her career. She feels that returning to Varanasi for another significant project feels almost fated. Shweta noted that this city grounds her and evokes feelings of life coming full circle. Furthermore, she shared that her maternal grandfather studied in Varanasi, adding layers of emotional and cultural connection that predate her artistic journey. Each time she returns, it brings a spiritual sense of comfort and belonging.
With Mirzapur evolving to film format, excitement is palpable among cast and crew. Shweta characterized the atmosphere as a blend of nervous anticipation and eagerness, viewing this transition as a “new chapter” for everyone. She emphasized that the aspiration for the film's success goes beyond individual achievement; it is deeply rooted in the shared pride and collaborative spirit that defines the Mirzapur family. According to her, the essence of the franchise is the solid support system among its cast members, all contributing to a broader narrative vision.
Jaisalmer introduces a visually captivating dimension to the project. The sweeping desert scenery, historic forts, and wide-open landscapes promise to expand the cinematic universe while retaining the raw energy that defines Mirzapur. This new shooting schedule suggests that pivotal scenes will be set against the dramatic backdrop of Rajasthan, adding substantial depth and weight to the film’s adaptation.
As filming progresses, Mirzapur: The Film emerges as one of the most eagerly anticipated productions in Indian cinema. Shweta Tripathi’s emotional insights, combined with the team’s dedicated efforts in Jaisalmer, amplify the expectation that this film aims to offer both a fresh perspective and heartfelt storytelling. Fans can look forward to an intense narrative that intertwines nostalgia with expanded storytelling, characteristic of the franchise’s successful legacy.
