Shriya Saran Calls Out Identity Fraud Amid Impersonation Scare

Post by : Mina Rahman

Actress Shriya Saran has voiced her frustration over her identity being misused by an impersonator contacting people on her behalf. She took to social media, imploring the fraudster to cease their actions immediately: “Please stop writing to people and wasting time.”

On Wednesday, she posted a screenshot featuring the fraudulent phone number along with her image, stating, “Whoever this idiot is, please stop writing to people and wasting time! This situation feels odd. I sympathize with those whose time is being wasted.”

The star of Drishyam 2 cautioned her followers to remain vigilant, pointing out that the impersonator had attempted to contact individuals she holds in high esteem. “This is not me! Not my number! On a positive note, it's odd that this impersonator is reaching out to people I admire and wish to collaborate with! It's baffling! Why waste your time on this? Go find your own identity instead!”

Additionally, Shriya posted a warning on her Instagram Stories: “Scam alert… Fake. Receiving calls from friends regarding someone posing as me. Please avoid this fraudulent number for any communications or bookings. No payments of any kind should be made.”

Supporters commented in concern, encouraging her to report the number to cybercrime units. One admirer remarked, “It must be incredibly frustrating to have someone exploit your name and annoy others. You are handling it with tremendous grace — no impersonator can match your kindness and integrity.” Other fans urged her to lodge an official complaint to curb this fraud.

This year, Shriya appeared in a notable role in the Tamil romantic action film Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, alongside Suriya and Pooja Hegde. She also featured in the Telugu fantasy action movie Mirai, directed by Karthik Gattamneni, sharing the screen with Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, Jagapathi Babu, Ritika Nayak, and Jayaram.

Shriya is married to Andrei Koscheev, and they have a daughter named Radha.
