Amidst the ongoing financial dispute involving her and her husband Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, an actor and entrepreneur, has issued a statement rebutting allegations of wrongdoing. In her heartfelt message, she expressed her disappointment over being unfairly linked to a matter she asserts she was not involved in.
Shilpa clarified that her connection with the company at the center of the controversy was strictly non-executive. She emphasized that she had no influence over its operations, finances, or legal matters, specifying that her role was limited to product endorsements for a home shopping platform, akin to the engagements of many public figures—highlighting that payments for her endorsements are still outstanding.
The ongoing scrutiny revolves around a ₹60-crore case of criminal breach of trust associated with the now-defunct Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, where both Shilpa and Raj Kundra served as directors. This case, which is currently under investigation by the Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai Police, also incorporates charges of fraud based on a businessman’s complaint regarding losses in a loan and investment deal.
In her statement, Shilpa revealed that her own family had provided loans totaling nearly ₹20 crore to the company, funds that remain outstanding. She questioned both the timing and the legal grounds of these accusations, noting that attempts to implicate her emerged almost nine years later, which she argues contravenes accepted legal standards.
Concerned about the persistent public attention surrounding her name, Shilpa labeled the situation as emotionally exhausting and undeserved. She pointed out that such unverified allegations can inflict long-lasting damage on an individual’s honor, particularly affecting women’s reputation and credibility.
Concluding her statement with a philosophical note, Shilpa referenced the Bhagavad Gita to highlight her moral responsibility to fight against injustice. She confirmed that a petition aimed at dismissing the case has been submitted to the Bombay High Court, reaffirming her faith in the legal process as she seeks all necessary actions to safeguard her rights and honor.
