Abu Dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has attended the Games of the Future 2025 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, emphasizing the city’s emerging status as a global center for innovative sports, gaming, and advanced technologies.

This international event, organized by ASPIRE with the support of ADNOC, gathered over 850 athletes from more than 60 nations. Participants competed across 11 categories, including shooting, martial arts, football, basketball, drone racing, and robotics, with a total prize pool of roughly US$5 million.

During his visit, Sheikh Zayed witnessed multiple phygital competitions—a rapidly growing format that merges real-world sports performance with virtual gameplay. These hybrid sports challenge athletes to excel in both physical and digital skills, illustrating how technology is transforming traditional sports and gaming.

Sheikh Zayed stated that hosting the Games of the Future underscores Abu Dhabi’s dedication to keeping pace with the swift evolution of sports and creative sectors. He highlighted the emirate's ongoing support for innovation and advanced technologies, which integrate human talent with digital advancements for a future-ready landscape for youth and emerging professionals.

The Games of the Future also provided a stage for leading local and international organizations to present groundbreaking advancements in hybrid sports, artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, robotics, and drone technology. Collaborating organizations included the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the UAE Cybersecurity Council, alongside several educational institutions.

Among these was Abu Dhabi University, offering the region's inaugural Bachelor of Arts degree in Video Game Design. This program aims to foster the gaming sector's growth and strengthen the digital creative economy of Abu Dhabi, aligning educational initiatives with future industry requirements.

By hosting events like the Games of the Future, Abu Dhabi continues to solidify its position as a leader in innovation-driven sports and entertainment, bridging the divide between physical competition and digital progression.
