Post by : Bianca Suleiman

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and a Supreme Council Member, presided over the graduation ceremony for the sixth cohort of certified Quran reciters at the University City Hall. A total of 311 graduates received Quranic certification during this grand event.

During the ceremony, Sheikh Sultan revealed the completion of the extensive “Rhetorical Interpretation” encyclopedia, a significant Quranic initiative comprising 68 volumes, which took four years to compile and offers a comprehensive rhetorical analysis of the Holy Quran.

Additionally, he inaugurated three new Quranic encyclopedia projects. Among these is the “Quranic Word” encyclopedia that delves into every single term in the Holy Quran from various angles, including meaning, language, and context.

Furthermore, Sheikh Sultan signed the first editions of two new encyclopedias focused on different methodologies of Quranic reading. These include a 22-volume collection based on Asim al-Kufi's recitation and a 17-volume encyclopedia on Ibn Kathir, supplemented with narration charts and Quranic texts curated by 63 scholars.

In his address, Sheikh Sultan expressed his joy over the successful completion of these encyclopedia projects and commended Sharjah's institutions for their commitment to science, education, and Islamic scholarship spanning over five decades.

He also announced the establishment of the “Dar Al-Hadith” at Sharjah University City, an institution dedicated to Hadith studies that will offer specialized certificates in conjunction with the Holy Quran Academy and Al Qasimia University.

Highlighting Sharjah's dedication to promoting the Arabic language and Islamic education, Sheikh Sultan noted the emirate's support through advanced educational institutions rooted in strong scientific and cultural foundations.

He also brought attention to Sharjah’s role in fostering Arabic education in African nations, mentioning that numerous African students at Al Qasimia University return home to establish Arabic and Quranic learning centers.

Dr Khalifa Musbah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Holy Quran Academy, expressed gratitude towards Sheikh Sultan for his unwavering support of Quranic education and scientific endeavors.

He announced that the Academy is formulating a new strategy for the period from 2027-2029, which aims to digitize Quranic educational resources and make them accessible to students and researchers globally via interactive platforms.

Dr Al Tunaiji also highlighted the success of the Sharjah Global Electronic Quran Recitation Centre, particularly under the “Thamarah al-Thamarah” initiative that has expanded to six continents and 51 countries, benefiting numerous students engaged in Quranic studies.

Moreover, the Academy has launched the Citizen Reciter Project in collaboration with several Islamic institutions in Sharjah to train Emirati Quran memorizes and reciters.

The attendees were also treated to a documentary about the “Thamarah al-Thamarah” project, which aims to train graduates as Quran teachers and reciters worldwide.

Dr Muhammad Safi Al-Mustaghani, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy, explained the significance of the “Rhetorical Interpretation” encyclopedia, a project that involved 68 global scholars to elucidate the rhetorical aspects, structures, and linguistic beauty of Quranic verses.

Concluding the ceremony, Sheikh Sultan took commemorative photographs with the scholars and contributors involved in the Academy's initiatives, while the graduates proudly received their Quranic certifications in the presence of esteemed officials, scholars, and researchers.
