Shakira to Headline Opening Ceremony for FIFA World Cup 2026 in Mexico
Global superstar Shakira will perform the official song for FIFA World Cup 2026, titled "Dai Dai", during the grand opening ceremony in Mexico City, as announced by FIFA on Friday.
Set to occur at Estadio Azteca, the ceremony will start 90 minutes before the inaugural match featuring Mexico against South Africa. Shakira will share the stage with Nigerian sensation Burna Boy as they debut "Dai Dai" at this prestigious event.
Launched on May 14, "Dai Dai" embodies the spirit of the tournament, with the title translating from Italian to signify "let's go" or "come on."
The diverse lineup for the ceremony also includes Colombian music icon J Balvin and South African artist Tyla, promising a vibrant mix of global talent.
Shakira is additionally anticipated to perform at the FIFA World Cup 2026 final and will make history with the first-ever halftime show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey during the tournament.
FIFA has confirmed that Shakira and Burna Boy will officially launch "Dai Dai" as they set the tone for one of the world’s most awaited sporting events.
