Saudi Arabia has embarked on its second presidential term at the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) for the 2025–2028 period. This announcement came during the fifteenth session of the ARABOSAI General Assembly, currently taking place in Jeddah. This significant milestone underscores the Kingdom's leadership role and the trust member nations have placed in its capabilities.
With Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Court of Audit, hosting the current session of the ARABOSAI General Assembly, it becomes the first member to lead ARABOSAI for two consecutive terms since the organization's inception in 1976. This reflects the confidence in Saudi Arabia’s audit institutions and their effective management during the initial term.
During its first term from 2022 to 2025, Saudi Arabia significantly advanced ARABOSAI’s mission to enhance collaboration among member institutions. The General Court of Audit has been pivotal in reinforcing joint efforts, sharing best practices, and implementing strategies beneficial to the organization. Such accomplishments garnered unanimous support from member nations to extend the Kingdom’s presidency.
The Jeddah session of the ARABOSAI General Assembly acts as a platform for addressing crucial topics concerning audit standards, governance, and financial oversight in the Arab world. It gathers leaders and experts from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of member countries to exchange insights, discuss obstacles, and explore methods of enhancing public sector accountability and transparency.
Saudi Arabia's leadership is set to emphasize the exchange of expertise, the development of training initiatives, and support programs aimed at improving audit performance in member states. The Kingdom looks to continue fostering strong partnerships and embracing innovative approaches in auditing that align with global standards.
The General Court of Audit has been instrumental in promoting auditing excellence within both Saudi Arabia and the Arab region. By leading ARABOSAI again, the Kingdom intends to bolster capacity-building programs, launch strategic initiatives, and contribute to the evolution of audit institutions within the member nations.
Saudi Arabia’s presidency will involve organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences centered on emerging audit trends, including the integration of technology and digital tools to enhance public financial management. This aligns with the Kingdom’s wider goal of promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance within public institutions.
The decision granting Saudi Arabia a consecutive term serves as recognition of its proactive stance and leadership within the Arab auditing community. The contributions of the Kingdom have unified and improved the efficiency of ARABOSAI, making it more adept at supporting member nations.
As this term commences, Saudi Arabia is anticipated to persist in its focus on delivering exceptional audit practices, nurturing collaboration, and supporting initiatives that encourage knowledge-sharing among ARABOSAI members. The Kingdom's presidency symbolizes its commitment to excellence, leadership, and sustainable development in public financial oversight.
