Saiyaara, celebrated as one of the top romantic films in Indian cinema, proudly received the Popular Choice Award at the Yellowstone International Film Festival 2025. Director Mohit Suri Reflects on His Accomplishments
Mohit Suri, renowned for previous hits like Aashiqui 2 and Kalyug, described this accolade as a landmark moment in his two-decade career. He fondly recalled the influential impact of watching the classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge as a child, a pivotal moment that sparked his passion for filmmaking.
During the awards ceremony held in Mumbai, Suri extended his gratitude to YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani for his unwavering support. “Akshaye, I owe this to you,” Suri remarked. He also reminisced about presenting the Saiyaara script to YRF chairman Aditya Chopra and Widhani, who promptly approved the project.
YRF Celebrates the Success of Saiyaara
The film's title track has made history by becoming the first Hindi song to break into the Billboard Top 10 worldwide, solidifying its international acclaim. With this commercial success, many have drawn parallels between Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's debut and that of Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai (2000).
YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani commended Suri’s endeavours, stating, “The film, acclaimed as the highest-grossing love saga of all time, represents a moment of immense pride for us. Mohit has excelled in his craft. This award belongs to the entire cast and crew whose relentless effort brought this film to life.”
With its critical success, outstanding box office performance, and international recognition, Saiyaara is poised to make a lasting impact on modern Indian cinema, establishing new benchmarks for romantic storytelling on the screen.
