Saanand Verma Shares Experience of Unscripted Slap from Gulshan Grover

Post by : Mina Rahman

Saanand Verma, famously recognized as Saxena Ji from Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain, recently recounted a startling real-life incident involving Bollywood actor Gulshan Grover on the set of the web series First Copy. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, he revealed the shocking reality behind a scene where Grover slapped him, stating it was an unforeseen and intentional act.

He expressed, “Gulshan Grover gave me a real slap during First Copy. Inside, I felt rage, but I chose to remain silent. I'm talking about it for the first time now. This wasn't part of the acting.”

Saanand continued, “This was no scripted slap and I wasn't informed ahead of time. At the very least, I could have braced myself for it. However, I maintained my composure, completed the scene, and walked away without discussing it with anyone.”

When asked about the importance of warning actors before such actions, he remarked, “It’s crucial to inform your co-actor. He slapped me without any warning, which was unjust. I felt a surge of anger but chose not to show it, as I wanted to keep the atmosphere positive. I even considered using a nearby chair but stayed smiling instead.”

Saanand also reflected on how some actors manage similar situations, noting, “I've heard that Anil Kapoor delivers real slaps too, but he always apologizes afterward. Unfortunately, Gulshan ji did not acknowledge his actions. He's too focused on maintaining his bad-guy persona.”

Saanand Verma has successfully established himself in both television and film, achieving fame as Saxena Ji in Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain and appearing in notable films such as Mardaani, Raid, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, and Mission Raniganj. His comedic talent and adaptability have earned him recognition in the Indian entertainment industry.
