New Video of Red Fort Bomber Labels Suicide Bombing a 'Misunderstood Concept'

Post by : Raina Nasser

A disturbing video featuring Dr. Umar un Nabi, the suspected driver linked to the Red Fort bombing that claimed over ten lives, has recently come to light. This footage provides unsettling insight into the ideologies that may have fueled this tragic incident. Recorded prior to November 10, the video captures Nabi explaining what he refers to as the 'misunderstood' concept of suicide bombings, which he consistently denotes as 'martyrdom operations.'

In a secluded setting, Nabi articulates a lengthy rationale supporting these violent acts. He contends that the phrase suicide bombing is grossly misconstrued, insisting it should be termed a 'martyrdom operation.'

He states, 'One of the most misrepresented concepts is what has been termed suicide bombing. It is, in fact, a martyrdom operation. There are numerous arguments against this, but a martyrdom operation occurs when an individual anticipates their demise in a specific location, at a specific time.'

The video has become increasingly relevant as investigators intensify their scrutiny of the shocking event.

NIA Confirms Suicide Mission Angle

This clip emerged shortly after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained another alleged co-conspirator, Jasir Bilal Wani, who was reportedly radicalized by Nabi. The NIA asserts that the pair had been planning synchronized suicide missions across India for over a year.

Significantly, the NIA referred to Nabi as a 'suicide bomber' for the first time in conjunction with the latest arrest, further complicating the narrative. The agency has also categorized the vehicle involved in the blast—a Hyundai i20—as a 'vehicle-borne IED,’ highlighting the premeditated nature of the incident.

What Happened on November 10

The tragic explosion took place at 6:52 PM near the Red Fort when the Hyundai i20 erupted in flames at a traffic signal. This vehicle, which had undergone multiple ownership changes and was fitted with a CNG tank, detonated with devastating power, resulting in eleven deaths.

Forensic analyses confirm that Umar un Nabi was at the wheel during the explosion, reinforcing suspicions of a deliberate suicide assault.

Wider Terror Conspiracy Under Investigation

The Delhi Police Special Cell has initiated a deeper investigation to unveil the broader network behind this attack, contemplating crucial inquiries such as:

  • Are the explosives linked to terror organizations?

  • Were additional vehicles being prepped for similar operations?

  • Does this incident draw inspiration from the 2019 Pulwama suicide attack?

Sources suggest this module may have received guidance or support from individuals outside India.

Video Raises Serious Alarm

Law enforcement perceives the newly emerged video as a pivotal piece of evidence. It not only unveils Umar un Nabi's radical thoughts but also insinuates premeditated intent behind the bombing.

This video may have been produced as a personal manifesto or part of an elaborate campaign for recruitment and ideological persuasion.

Next Steps in the Probe

Authorities are currently evaluating digital devices, communication habits, and social media interactions linked to the perpetrators to fully comprehend the conspiracy's extent. Security experts anticipate further arrests as the inquiry unfolds.

The video's surfacing has raised red flags concerning the potential resurgence of suicide-style attacks, underscoring the urgency for heightened vigilance and robust counterterrorism strategies.
