Putin's Inflated Hand Video Ignites Health Concerns

Post by : Raina Nasser

A recently surfaced video of Russian President Vladimir Putin has reignited global concerns regarding his health. The clip, which has gone viral on social media, captures the 73-year-old’s right hand appearing notably swollen and veiny, sparking discussions about potential medical issues.

In the footage, reportedly filmed last week, Putin is seen meeting with Yekaterina Leshchinskaya, a 22-year-old leader in the Russian Healthy Fatherland movement. Throughout the meeting, Putin seems visibly uneasy, frequently clenching his right hand into a fist—an action that swiftly caught the attention of viewers online.

Anton Gerashchenko, a former advisor to Ukraine's interior ministry, shared the video on X (formerly Twitter), pointing out: “What’s with Putin’s hands in this video?” His post unleashed a flurry of theories, with some users speculating that the Russian leader could be dealing with circulatory or neurological issues, including Parkinson’s disease.

Ongoing Health Speculations

This isn’t the first occasion that concerns for Vladimir Putin’s health have made headlines. Earlier this year, during a military visit, his hand seemed bruised and spotted, intensifying rumors about his wellbeing. Kremlin spokespeople have consistently labeled such claims as “fake news” driven by political agendas.

Social media commentators have drawn parallels between Putin's latest appearance and previous instances involving global leaders under similar scrutiny. For example, speculation arose regarding former U.S. President Donald Trump when his hand appeared bruised; this was later clarified by White House officials as the result of “tissue damage from frequent handshakes.”

Remarks on Aging Resurface

With renewed scrutiny on Putin’s health, users have also revisited an earlier clip featuring his conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. During the discussion, Putin remarked, “Human organs can be continuously transplanted. The longer you live, the younger you become.” This statement reignited intrigue about the Russian leader's perceptions of aging and the concept of immortality.

Kremlin's Response Lacking

To date, the Kremlin has not addressed the latest health-related rumors. However, representatives have previously proclaimed that Putin remains in “excellent health,” maintaining his schedule of public engagements and meetings.

As the video continues to garner worldwide attention, questions about Putin’s health are once again central to public discourse—fueling both concern and conspiracy theories among observers.
