Punjabi Radio Host Sentenced to 5.5 Years in Canadian Meth Case

Post by : Shweta

A prominent Punjabi radio and television personality has been handed a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence in Canada after being convicted in a significant drug trafficking case involving methamphetamine.

Sukhvinder Kaur Sangha, 47, received her sentence from Justice John Gibb-Carsley in the B.C. Supreme Court on April 10, 2026. This ruling stems from an incident that occurred on October 18, 2021, at the Pacific Border Crossing.

Court records reveal that Sangha was attempting to enter Canada from the United States when Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers ordered her vehicle for a secondary inspection. Instead of complying, she attempted to escape, leading border officials on a high-speed chase.

Authorities ultimately apprehended her, and a thorough search of her rental vehicle uncovered about 108 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in duffle bags within the trunk. The large cache of drugs indicated a serious trafficking operation rather than a minor offence.

The court took into account the severity of the crime, emphasizing the scale of the drug seizure and her efforts to evade capture. Given that methamphetamine poses significant dangers, large-scale cases like this one are viewed as critical threats to public safety.
