Perplexity has introduced a groundbreaking update to its AI-driven Comet Assistant, enhancing its functionality as a more intelligent digital aide. This latest iteration is designed to automate routine online tasks such as job searches, research, flight comparisons, and data entry, significantly reducing the time and effort required from users.
The revised Comet can now operate across various browser tabs at once. For instance, users can extract information from a website, input it into spreadsheets, and analyze data from several sources without needing to switch tabs. This multitasking capability is being described as akin to having a “personal intern” dedicated to mundane online tasks.
The focus on efficiency is paramount. Internal evaluations indicate a 23% boost in managing extensive workflows, multi-step assignments, and research endeavors that necessitate frequent site switching. From travel planning to overseeing job applications and managing digital task lists, the assistant is now equipped to tackle intricate tasks more dependably.
Privacy features have also seen enhancements. Comet seeks explicit consent prior to accessing browser tabs or executing actions that entail deeper integration. Once consent is provided, it retains these preferences, ensuring that users maintain control without facing repeated prompts.
By merging automation, privacy, and user-friendliness, Comet aspires to make online interactions more productive and less daunting. This update is designed to enable students, professionals, and families to reclaim numerous hours each week from monotonous digital tasks, providing a vision of a future where AI genuinely enhances everyday online experiences.
