In an impressive funding round, Parallel Web Systems, spearheaded by former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, has successfully raised $100 million in Series A funding to transform the dynamics of how AI agents retrieve and utilize information from the internet. This funding round evaluates the company at an impressive $740 million and was co-led by Kleiner Perkins and Index Ventures, with contributions from Khosla Ventures and other early investors.
Established just two years ago, Parallel is focused on creating web search infrastructure aimed at AI agents, granting them the capability to access live and precise data directly from the web. The company had previously raised $30 million in early 2024 and launched its initial products in August 2025.
Agrawal emphasizes that Parallel is addressing a crucial transition in internet usage — moving from traditional human browsing to AI-driven search and automation. Its APIs empower AI systems to obtain real-time web data for various applications, including coding, customer data analysis, and financial risk evaluation.
Contrary to conventional search engines that provide clickable links, Parallel’s technology supplies “optimized tokens” — data chunks that are formatted to integrate seamlessly into an AI model’s context window. Agrawal asserts this approach minimizes erroneous outputs, enhances accuracy, and reduces operational costs for clients.
The funding will facilitate the company's ambitions to expand its product range and grow its enterprise customer relationships, aiming to enhance web accessibility for AI. With numerous websites restricting access to content through paywalls or logins, Parallel is investigating an open market strategy, encouraging publishers to enable access for AI systems.
Agrawal advocates that the future of the internet will be dominated by intelligent agents that depend on high-quality, current information — and Parallel aims to be the essential link facilitating this connection.
