The Sultanate of Oman has successfully facilitated the repatriation of the crew members of the vessel Eternity C as part of its continuous humanitarian efforts in Yemen. This action underscores Oman’s unwavering commitment to aiding individuals affected by regional challenges and extending support whenever necessary.

The operation involved the safe transfer of eleven crew members from Sana’a to Muscat. The sailors, hailing from the Philippines and India, were transported on a Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) aircraft. Their arrival in Muscat marks the initial phase of their journey, leading toward their return home to reunite with their families. Oman’s coordinated efforts ensured that the crew received necessary care, support, and safe passage following a challenging period in Yemen.

Hans Leo Cacdac, Secretary of Labour of the Philippines, expressed deep gratitude for the humanitarian initiative undertaken by Oman. He extended sincere thanks to the Government of Oman and to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for their continued efforts that facilitated the crew’s release. He noted his pleasure in visiting Oman and emphasized the warm hospitality he experienced during his stay.

Cacdac acknowledged the robust relations between Oman and the Philippines, particularly in the labor sector, where cooperation has consistently been positive and constructive. He highlighted the presence of a substantial Filipino community working in Oman and the significance of good relations that benefit workers and strengthen ties between both nations.

On the Indian side, Godavarthi Venkata Srinivas, Ambassador of India to Oman, highlighted the extensive historical relationship between Oman and India. He indicated that the two countries share over 70 years of diplomatic relations strengthened by economic collaboration, maritime connections, and cultural understanding. The ambassador noted that both nations are working collaboratively across many sectors, enhancing strong cooperation based on mutual respect.

He expressed gratitude from India for Oman’s considerable efforts in securing the release of its crew members, acknowledging the role of Omani authorities in coordinating with different parties to ensure a safe and smooth repatriation process.

One Indian crew member, Anel Kumar, shared his overwhelming joy following his release. He thanked the Sultanate of Oman for its support, expressing that the assistance he received has enabled him to commence his journey home. His sentiments echoed the relief and happiness experienced by all crew members after their liberation.

Filipino crew member Julimo Taberos also conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Oman and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, expressing eagerness to return to his country and reunite with family after a difficult period abroad.

This successful repatriation effort underscores Oman’s pivotal humanitarian role within the region. Through careful diplomacy, dependable cooperation, and respect for human life, Oman continues to play a significant part in addressing sensitive situations. Its endeavors reflect a commitment to backing international partners and safeguarding individuals immersed in challenging circumstances.

This operation stands as another testament to Oman’s cherished values: compassion, responsibility, and peaceful collaboration. The successful return of the Eternity C crew members will be remembered as a significant moment for the sailors and their families, who now look forward to restoring their lives following their ordeal.
