“Experiencing cravings in the evening is entirely natural,” Sujatha stated. “It’s a biological reaction to hormonal shifts during menstruation, rather than merely emotional eating.” She underscored the importance of identifying which foods soothe symptoms versus those that could intensify them, asserting that certain snacks can enhance mood, aid digestion, and maintain energy levels, while sugary, refined, or fried foods can lead to increased bloating, cramps, or tiredness.

For evening snacks, Sujatha recommends simple, nutritious, and guilt-free selections. A banana paired with peanut butter offers natural sweetness, fiber, and magnesium that help alleviate cramping. Protein-rich roasted chickpeas are filling and support consistent energy. A fruit and nut mix provides vital vitamins and minerals along with fiber conducive to digestion. Yogurt mixed with seeds like chia or flax introduces probiotics and healthy fats that combat bloating and enhance gut health. Finally, vegetable sticks accompanied by hummus deliver fiber and protein, satisfying cravings without compromising health.
