Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Bring Beyond Type 1 Diabetes Initiative to India

Post by : Saif Nasser

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra have joined hands to bring more attention to diabetes in India, a country that is facing one of the highest rates of the illness in the world. Their effort is part of the global non-profit organisation Beyond Type 1, co-founded by Nick Jonas, which works to support people living with Type 1 diabetes. By expanding this initiative to India, the couple hopes to create more awareness, reduce stigma and give patients the confidence and information they need to live healthier lives.

Priyanka Chopra shared the announcement on Instagram, explaining how her understanding of Type 1 diabetes began when she learned about her husband’s health condition. Nick Jonas was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was just 13 years old. Priyanka said that Nick has shown incredible strength over the years, proving that a chronic illness does not have to limit a person’s dreams. She added that Nick helped create Beyond Type 1 to make sure that every patient receives proper knowledge, support and dignity.

India has one of the largest populations of people living with diabetes. According to global estimates, around 77 million adults in the country are affected. A major concern is that many young people also live with Type 1 diabetes and often face late diagnosis, limited resources, and the emotional burden of stigma. Priyanka highlighted these issues in her message and said the new campaign in India will honour individuals who have bravely managed their condition. Some of these inspiring figures include Lt Col Kumar Gaurav, Mehrin Rana, Nishant Amin, Shreya Jain, Indu Thampy and Harichandran Ponnusamy.

Nick Jonas has often spoken about his own experience with the illness. When he was first diagnosed, he felt alone and confused. This feeling motivated him to build a community where people with diabetes could find comfort, information and hope. Beyond Type 1 has grown into a global network offering resources, educational programmes and grants to support patients and their families. By bringing this initiative to India, Nick and Priyanka hope to create a strong support system where young people do not have to feel isolated.

The campaign aims to share real stories of courage, promote early diagnosis, and encourage open conversations about diabetes. It also hopes to fight the stigma that often stops people from seeking help. Through social media, events, and community programmes, the goal is to help people understand that diabetes can be managed with the right care and awareness.

Nick Jonas’ journey shows that with proper management and support, a full and active life is possible. Through Beyond Type 1, he wants India’s diabetes community to feel the same sense of solidarity. Priyanka Chopra’s involvement adds a powerful voice that can reach millions and help spread awareness across the country.

As Beyond Type 1 begins its work in India, the hope is that more people will understand the importance of timely diagnosis, access to treatment, and emotional support. The initiative marks an important step toward creating a stronger and more informed community for people living with diabetes.
