Nalin Haley's Controversial Remarks on Immigration and Language

Post by : Raina Nasser

Nalin Haley, the son of former US ambassador Nikki Haley, has ignited significant controversy following his remarks regarding immigration, language usage, and citizenship in the United States. These comments were shared during interviews with Tucker Carlson and the online platform UnHerd in November 2025.

At just 24 years old, Nalin asserted that the United States should impose restrictions on the number of foreign students admitted to American universities, suggesting that some could potentially act as spies. He strongly advocated for prioritizing American youth, arguing that foreign students may detract from opportunities available to domestic learners.

He further criticized the notion of dual citizenship, labeling it "the stupidest idea" and emphasizing the importance of loyalty to the US above all other allegiances. Nalin stated that those who achieve citizenship should not be eligible for public office, as growing up in the country is essential for fully grasping its values.

On the topic of language, he voiced his disdain for using any language other than English as the primary means of communication, though he noted that knowing another language is acceptable.

Drawing from personal experience, Nalin elaborated on his views regarding immigration, recounting how many of his peers, despite their degrees from reputable institutions, found it difficult to secure employment, while the children of well-established families seemed to land jobs effortlessly. This sentiment, he stated, has significantly influenced his disapproval of legal immigration.

The young activist did not shy away from controversy, even going so far as to call for the denaturalization and deportation of British-born journalist Mehdi Hasan, accusing him of harboring anti-American sentiments.

His remarks, characterized by a hardline stance on immigration, dual citizenship, and language policy, have sparked intense discussions among conservatives, young Americans, and those involved in the immigration discourse.

These comments were made during interviews throughout November 2025 and have rapidly circulated across social media and various news platforms.
