Mubadala Bio has officially inaugurated a high-potency manufacturing center at its subsidiary, Bioventure Healthcare, coinciding with the launch of three crucial oncology drugs. Notably, these medicines are being produced locally as branded generics for the first time in the UAE. This initiative aligns with the nation's ambition to bolster its pharmaceutical sector and guarantee reliable access to essential treatments.
The state-of-the-art facility is designed to safely produce high-potency drugs, including those for cancer and hormonal therapies. Adhering to top international safety and quality protocols, it is equipped to manage complex, sensitive products required for sophisticated medical treatments.
The initial medicines that rolled out from this facility comprise Lenalidomide for treating myeloma, Pomalidomide—now locally manufactured in the UAE for the first time and aimed at multiple myeloma treatment—and Sunitinib, used for specific advanced cancers. These drugs are vital components of cancer care and are indispensable for numerous patients.
By localizing drug production, Mubadala Bio enhances drug security within the UAE. This ensures a steady supply of vital treatments, mitigates reliance on imports, and provides more cost-effective options for patients and healthcare professionals nationwide.
Mubadala Bio's senior executives emphasized that this milestone is pivotal for the growth of the UAE's life sciences sector. They highlighted that investing in domestic manufacturing not only facilitates access to essential medicines but also enhances healthcare outcomes and reinforces the national medical supply chain. This initiative exemplifies Mubadala Bio’s enduring commitment to fostering a robust and sustainable healthcare infrastructure in the UAE.
