India created cricket history after winning the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a commanding victory over New Zealand in the final. The win not only brought celebrations across the country but also drew praise from one of India’s greatest cricketers, former captain MS Dhoni, who congratulated the team for their remarkable achievement.

The final match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in front of thousands of excited fans. With this victory, India became the first team in the world to win the T20 World Cup three times and also the first to successfully defend the title.

The triumph marked another proud moment for Indian cricket and showed the strength and consistency of the team in the shortest format of the game.

After the victory, MS Dhoni shared a rare message on social media congratulating the players and support staff. Dhoni, who is usually quiet on social media, praised the team for creating history and performing strongly throughout the tournament.

In his message, he also appreciated head coach Gautam Gambhir for his leadership and dedication. Dhoni humorously told Gambhir that “the smile looks great on you,” highlighting the coach’s passion and determination during the tournament.

Dhoni’s message was special for fans because he was the captain who led India to its first T20 World Cup victory in 2007. His praise for the current team was seen as a symbolic passing of the torch from one generation of champions to another.

India’s victory in the final was dominant from the start. After losing the toss, India batted first and produced an impressive total of 255 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. The batting performance was led by Sanju Samson, who played a brilliant innings of 89 runs and continued his strong form throughout the tournament.

Abhishek Sharma also contributed with a quick half-century, helping India reach a massive total that placed heavy pressure on the New Zealand team. The aggressive batting approach showed India’s confidence and attacking style throughout the tournament.

When New Zealand began their chase, India’s bowlers quickly took control of the match. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah delivered an outstanding performance, taking four wickets for just 15 runs and breaking the backbone of the New Zealand batting lineup.

New Zealand struggled to keep up with the required run rate and were eventually bowled out for 159 runs in 19 overs. Bumrah’s match-winning spell earned him the Player of the Match award for his exceptional bowling.

Sanju Samson, who played consistently well throughout the tournament, was named Player of the Tournament after scoring important runs in several matches. His performance was widely praised by experts and fans alike.

The victory also marked an important achievement for India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav, who led the team to the prestigious title. Under his leadership, the team showed strong teamwork, fearless batting, and disciplined bowling.

Cricket experts around the world praised India’s dominance in the tournament. Many analysts said the combination of powerful batting and world-class bowling made India one of the strongest teams in international T20 cricket.

Former players and cricket legends also joined in congratulating the team. Messages poured in from across the cricket world, celebrating India’s achievement and praising the players for their hard work and dedication.

For Indian fans, the victory was a moment of national pride. Cricket holds a special place in the country, and major tournament wins often bring millions of people together in celebration.

The win was even more special because it happened on home soil. Playing in front of a large crowd at Ahmedabad added to the excitement and emotion of the final. Thousands of supporters filled the stadium, while millions more watched the match on television and online.

This victory also showed the depth of talent in Indian cricket. Young players and experienced stars worked together to deliver consistent performances throughout the tournament.

Many experts believe that the current Indian team has the potential to dominate international cricket for years to come. With strong leadership, talented players, and excellent coaching, the team appears ready for future challenges.

MS Dhoni’s congratulatory message captured the feelings of millions of fans who were proud of the team’s historic success. His words reminded everyone of the long journey Indian cricket has taken since its first T20 World Cup victory in 2007.

As celebrations continue across the country, the 2026 T20 World Cup triumph will be remembered as one of the most important moments in Indian cricket history.
