Controversy Erupts as Miss Universe 2025 Judge Resigns Amid Allegations of Bias

Post by : Saif Nasser

The prestigious Miss Universe 2025 pageant is embroiled in controversy just days before the final event in Bangkok, Thailand. Judge Omar Harfouch, a renowned composer, has opted to resign, making grave accusations regarding the organization of the competition.

Harfouch took to Instagram to announce his departure, asserting that a covert committee had already determined the top 30 finalists prior to the preliminary evaluations. This revelation raises serious concerns about the fairness of the judging process, as many contestants may have faced pre-judged outcomes.

According to Harfouch, the group responsible for finalist selection was not among the official judges. Instead, he alleged that an unofficial committee created an “impromptu jury” that prematurely identified the competitors advancing in the contest. He highlighted potential conflicts of interest due to personal ties between some committee members and contestants.

A report published on November 18 referenced Harfouch’s claims that at least one individual within this selection group had an alleged romantic involvement with a contestant. This individual was responsible for counting votes and managing results, further complicating the allegations of bias.

Harfouch recounted a troubling interaction with Miss Universe owner Raúl Rocha, as he requested more transparency regarding the judging process. He expressed his discontent with being part of a system that could potentially bias the futures of the contestants. Emphasizing the importance of a fair evaluation, he stated, “I cannot play with the destiny of young girls” by accepting pre-determined selections.

The resignation has drawn significant scrutiny toward the pageant, which has a history of controversy, including a previous incident involving a Thai director’s alleged disrespect towards Miss Mexico, causing a contestant walkout. The Miss Universe Organisation now faces increasing public demand for clarification about its selection process.

As of now, the Miss Universe Organisation has yet to respond in detail to these serious allegations. Many observers and fans are eager to learn if an internal inquiry will be initiated, or if measures will be taken to restore faith in the competition.

Traditionally celebrated for its values of beauty, talent, confidence, and fairness, these recent claims have raised pertinent questions concerning the behind-the-scenes decision-making. With the final competition looming, all eyes are on Bangkok to gauge how the Miss Universe Organisation addresses these mounting issues and what implications may ensue for the pageant's reputation moving forward.

This unfolding scenario may mark a significant moment in the history of the contest as fans, contestants, and past participants remain vigilant. The crucial question remains whether the organization can rebuild trust while ensuring fairness and transparency are upheld at the core of this global event.
