Meghan Markle is gearing up for a return to the cinematic world, making a cameo as herself in the upcoming comedy located in Close Personal Friends.
The Duchess of Sussex, aged 44, previously achieved fame as Rachel Zane in the beloved TV series Suits. In this new project, she will be featured as herself.
Close Personal Friends boasts an impressive ensemble, including Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, Brie Larson, Henry Golding, Natasia Demetriou, Patti Harrison, and Dustin Demri-Burn. Currently filming in Los Angeles, Markle was recently spotted in Pasadena, California, accessorized with sunglasses while entering a Range Rover.
The narrative revolves around a couple who befriends a set of celebrity pals during a Santa Barbara getaway, culminating in personal boundaries being tested amid various comedic situations.
Before her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, Markle participated in films such as Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me, and Horrible Bosses. Following their royal departure in 2020, the couple transitioned to the U.S., initiating numerous ventures, including Netflix collaborations and the establishment of their media firm, Archewell Productions.
Earlier this August, Prince Harry and Markle renewed their partnership with Netflix and Archewell Productions through a multiyear, first-look agreement. Markle expressed, “My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonate globally.”
Archewell Productions has released a range of documentaries for Netflix, such as Harry & Meghan, Polo, Heart of Invictus, and Live to Lead. Upcoming endeavors include the second season of With Love, Meghan, which will spotlight lifestyle and culinary themes, alongside a special holiday episode this December.
The firm will also participate in adapting Carley Fortune’s novel Meet Me at the Lake into a feature film, which tells a love story that spans a decade, beginning from an unexpected meeting and an unkept promise. Fortune has praised this collaboration, dubbing it “a tremendous personal challenge” and “truly incredible” to witness her work get acknowledgment.
This cameo marks Meghan Markle's initial scripted appearance since she stepped away from acting, signaling an exciting new chapter in her creative journey with Netflix and Archewell Productions.
