Qatar Partners with Informatica to Boost National Data Systems

Post by : Mara Rahim

At the MWC25 event held in Doha, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in Qatar sealed a significant framework agreement with Informatica, a global frontrunner in data management. The agreement was finalized by MCIT's Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations, Sami Mohammed Al Shammari, alongside Informatica's Vice President for Emerging Markets, Yasser Shouki.

This collaboration fits into Qatar's national strategy to cultivate a robust data ecosystem, reaffirming the importance of the country's central database as a reliable source for informed decision-making. Informatica was selected as a key ally in conjunction with the National Planning Council to back the government’s digital transformation vision.

Al Shammari emphasized the ministry’s dedication to advancing the nation’s digital infrastructure. He underscored that MCIT aims to construct the essential foundations for the government’s digital systems, enhance data governance efficiency, and modernize operational frameworks. This involves integrating the latest technologies and innovative solutions while building sustainable national capabilities to utilize data as a vital asset for decision-making.

Emphasizing the significance of the agreement, Ahmed Hassan Al Obaidly, Director General of the National Statistics Center at the National Planning Council, explained that this collaboration aims to establish a robust governance layer. He noted the framework's role in standardizing national definitions, managing data flows among government agencies, and enhancing the quality and accuracy of data. This initiative will also ensure synchronized integration of data within government systems, establishing the central database as a unified national reference for official statistics and information.

Al Obaidly further remarked that this strategic partnership aligns with Qatar’s National Data Strategy, aiming to create an integrated national data governance framework. It reinforces Qatar's commitment to treating data as a sovereign asset, aiding in achieving long-term ambitions under Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy, while enhancing the reliability of statistical outputs essential for informed policymaking and public services.

Informatica's Yasser Shouki conveyed pride in partnering with the Qatari government on this strategic initiative, noting that it aligns with Qatar’s digital transformation journey. The partnership is poised to empower government entities to realize the full potential of their AI-ready data through state-of-the-art cataloging, integration, and governance tools.

Informatica’s innovative solutions will enable Qatar to connect, manage, and unify its data effectively, promoting cloud-based and AI-augmented analytics. This collaboration signals Qatar's ambition to deploy advanced technologies to forge a modern, trustworthy, and integrated data ecosystem for its government agencies.

With this partnership, Qatar is fortifying its status as a leader in regional digital transformation, ensuring government entities can access high-quality, well-governed, and actionable data. This agreement also lays the foundation for innovative digital services to enhance efficiency, transparency, and decision-making in the public sector.
