Mastiii 4 Receives CBFC Nod Following Key Edits, Stars Make a Comeback

Post by : Mina Rahman

The adult comedy series welcomes a new chapter with the upcoming release of Mastiii 4, hitting theaters on 21 November after receiving clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The board approved the film with several compulsory edits made on 17 November, granting it an ‘A’ certificate.

Among the revisions requested were the removal of a nine-second ‘animal humping’ scene and a shortened 30-second close-up on human faces. Additionally, specific dialogue underwent alterations to conform to regulatory expectations, including the exchange of the word behen (sister) and the substitution of an item reference, as well as the alteration of an alcohol brand mentioned in a scene. These modifications were essential to meet censorship requirements while keeping the comedic essence intact.

Under the direction of Milap Milan Zaveri, Mastiii 4 brings back beloved stars from the series: Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani, who returns to the big screen after a six-year hiatus. The cast is further complemented by Elnaaz Norouzi, Shreya Sharma, and Ruhi Singh, along with special cameo appearances by Genelia D’Souza, Arshad Warsi, and Nargis Fakhri.

The Masti franchise started its journey in 2004 with the original film Masti, which became a sleeper hit grossing ₹34 crore. It was followed by Grand Masti in 2013, a roaring success that made over ₹150 crore globally. The third chapter, Great Grand Masti (2016), did not achieve the previous films' level of success. Mastiii 4 aims to capture the franchise's signature adult-comedy style while introducing both familiar and new faces.
