Mastiii 4 Debuts with Modest Earnings, Surpasses 120 Bahadur

Mastiii 4, starring Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, and Riteish Deshmukh, was released on November 21, experiencing a lukewarm reception in various regions. This installment of one of Bollywood's beloved adult-comedy series felt the pinch of low advance ticket sales, a trend echoed by its rival release, 120 Bahadur, which also suffered from minimal pre-release enthusiasm.

Over the years, the Masti series has seen a mix of successes and failures. The original Masti (2004) and Grand Masti (2013) enjoyed significant box-office triumphs, garnering a dedicated fanbase for their light-hearted adult comedy. Nevertheless, Great Grand Masti's failure to replicate that success instilled doubt regarding audience reception for the latest edition. Despite these concerns, the creators of Mastiii 4 aimed to engage viewers with familiar characters and their signature humor.

On its opening day, the film amassed approximately ₹2.50 crore, edging past 120 Bahadur, which accrued ₹2.35 crore. Although Mastiii 4 has the higher figures, the overall performance fell short of the expectations typically associated with a franchise release. Experts highlighted that the film's success would largely hinge on weekend attendance and audience feedback to see any substantial uptick in earnings.

Amidst these new releases, De De Pyaar De 2 maintained a strong presence, earning ₹2.25 crore on Friday as it entered its second week. The film, featuring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and R Madhavan, showed remarkable stability, with its second-week earnings similar to the opening day of both newcomers. This consistency points to the film’s broad appeal and strong audience retention.

As several films vie for audience attention, clearer box office trends are anticipated this weekend. For Mastiii 4, the upcoming days will reveal if the franchise's nostalgia and brand loyalty can lead to improved box office results.
