Kyrgyzstan's Commitment to SME Advancement through New Strategies

Post by : Shakul

In Bishkek, a significant high-level meeting was convened to discuss the expansion and backing of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), underscoring the government's pledge to fortify the nation's economic foundation. Hosted at the Presidential Administration, the gathering united officials, financial entities, and specialists in policy making.

Adylbek Kasymaliev, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and head of the Presidential Administration, led the discussions, emphasizing the essential role SMEs play in energizing economic growth and creating job opportunities nationwide.

During the deliberations, it was highlighted that the contribution of SMEs to the national GDP surged from 40 percent to 51 percent over the last three years, indicating a positive trajectory in economic progress while underscoring the growing significance of entrepreneurship in Kyrgyzstan.

Kasymaliev pointed out that development funds ought to prioritize initiatives within rural regions, where opportunities remain scarce. He detailed that empowering local entrepreneurs and aiding them in project launches could foster regional development equity and enhance living standards.

Officials also evaluated a proposed program designed to bolster SMEs until 2030. This initiative encompasses measures to facilitate financing access, including preferential loan options, interest rate support, and guarantee mechanisms aimed at minimizing financial risks for businesses.

Besides financial assistance, the strategy aims to enhance entrepreneurial skills via training, mentorship, and business acceleration programs. These efforts are projected to fortify entrepreneur capabilities, ensuring the long-term viability of their businesses.

Concluding the meeting, several directives were issued to government agencies to expedite the approval and execution of the SME development initiative. Authorities are optimistic that such actions will cultivate a more robust business landscape and spur economic advancement in the upcoming years.
