Kyrgyzstan Seeks Enhanced EAEU Position at SPIEF 2026

Post by : Shakul

At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2026, Kyrgyzstan reiterated its goal to emerge as a central trade and agricultural hub in the region, with government officials laying out a comprehensive long-term plan focused on food security, boosting exports, and enhancing economic integration across the region.

During multiple high-profile sessions at the forum, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Daniyar Amangeldiev, stressed Kyrgyzstan's determination to enhance its position within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and elevate its role in global agricultural markets. He pointed out the significance of agriculture as a cornerstone of the nation's growth strategy.

In a panel discussion dedicated to the impact of EAEU nations on global agricultural trends, Amangeldiev shared insights into Kyrgyzstan's ongoing efforts to boost its agricultural export potential and promote increased processing of farm produce. The government is backing farmers with financial support, modern standards in veterinary practices, and adopting innovative technologies to enhance productivity and sustainability.

He also highlighted the necessity of effective water resource management and cooperative research among EAEU members. These actions, according to Amangeldiev, are vital for establishing a resilient, innovative food system that satisfies both local and international market needs. He expressed Kyrgyzstan's readiness to attract investments in logistics and aquaculture sectors to diversify its agricultural landscape.

In another session examining the evolving global economic framework, Amangeldiev outlined Kyrgyzstan's strategy for navigating the changing trade and financial landscape. He remarked on how traditional economic paradigms are rapidly shifting, and countries that adapt swiftly could secure a competitive edge moving forward.

Amangeldiev noted that Kyrgyzstan is progressively establishing itself as a vital trade hub, connecting major pathways across Central Asia. By capitalizing on its strategic geography and enhancing connectivity, the nation aims to draw in investments, spur economic development, and foster regional stability. Officials maintain that this strategy will bolster Kyrgyzstan’s significance in the transforming global economy, opening up fresh prospects for local and international enterprises.

The day wrapped up with Amangeldiev’s engagement in the plenary session of SPIEF 2026, featuring discussions among state leaders, policymakers, and business figures about future global development trends and enduring international collaborations. The forum served as a key opportunity for Kyrgyzstan to highlight its economic goals and reaffirm its dedication to regional synergy, sustainable progress, and investment avenues.
