Kyrgyzstan's PM Advocates Enhanced CIS Collaboration

Post by : Shakul

Adylbek Kasymaliev, Kyrgyzstan’s Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, has called for enhanced economic and regional collaboration during the recent Council of Heads of Government meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Ashgabat. This high-profile conference gathered leaders and officials from CIS nations to deliberate on trade, transport, economic development, and regional alliances.

In his address at the summit, Kasymaliev underscored that the CIS has emerged as a vital platform for fostering cooperation across various sectors in the past 35 years. He pointed out the organization's continuing significance in enhancing economic relationships, transport connectivity, technological collaboration, and humanitarian initiatives among its members.

Highlighting the growth in economic relations within the CIS, he revealed that Kyrgyzstan’s trade volume with member states surpassed 7 billion dollars in 2025, marking an over nine percent rise from the previous year — an indicator of increasing regional economic integration.

Kasymaliev urged member states to prioritize improving trade conditions, lowering administrative obstacles, and fostering a more predictable business climate. He suggested stronger industrial cooperation, the development of regional value chains, and enhanced collaboration in the digitalization of foreign trade operations.

During the meeting, one notable project discussed was the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway, seen by Kyrgyzstan as crucial for expanding trade and transport connectivity within the region. Kasymaliev noted the rising importance of alternative transit routes and coordinated regional logistics in light of evolving global geopolitical circumstances.

The Kyrgyz leader also highlighted the need for environmental collaboration, particularly concerning efforts to rehabilitate areas impacted by uranium mining. He expressed gratitude to partner countries contributing to interstate environmental initiatives aimed at enhancing ecological safety and sustainable regional development.

In conclusion, Kasymaliev invited CIS member states to engage in major international events hosted by Kyrgyzstan later this year, including the 40th International Issyk-Kul Forum and the World Nomad Games. The summit wrapped up with a formal signing of several cooperative agreements and official documents among the participating countries.
